ONLINE WORKSHOP: Abstraction & the work of Dorothy Hood

Sign up with Case for Making for this online workshop (includes 30 day access to the recording)

Dorothy Hood was born in 1918 and spent her life in both Mexico and Texas. Her large abstract paintings are full of hard and soft edges, moments where the paint pools and gathers and places where the paint makes crisp lines and angles. Her colors are bold and inspired by the full range of colors found in both Mexico and Texas. With watercolors, we will play with some of Dorothy’s shapes by creating hard edges with tape, letting the watercolors be soft and blend, and create dynamic shapes with layered colors. This is a really fun class to experiment with abstract shapes and learn new ways of approaching applying paint to paper.
